Zeiss-Zimbel Friendship Contest Winners

Avec des soumissions venant d'aussi loin que Calgary, Alberta, nous pouvons affirmer que l'amitié voyage bien. La diversité a donc rendu la tâche du jugement fort difficile. Les nominés des trois mentions honorables et les quatres gagnants de prix ont produits des images d'une force et d'une unicité qui capturent notre imagination. Toutes nos félicitations à Judith Crawley, David Hopkins et Jacques Robert récipientaires des mentions honorables. Italo Camerino et David Jourdan sont à égalité pour la troisième place avec des images tout autant différentes qu'émouvantes. Le gagnant du deuxième prix, Linxi Jiang, a soumis une photo allant droit au thème du concours avec une photo d'amies réunies sur une galerie. Le grand gagnant, Joel Labbée, sur un fond de fête nationale, apporte une réflexion à multiples facettes sur l'amitié. Démontrant à la fois la camaraderie quotidienne et les grandes amitiés. Nous remercions tous les participants qui ont permis de faire de ce concours Carl Zeiss-George Zimbel sur le thème de l'amitié, une grande réussite.

With entries from as far west as Calgary, Alberta, we can honestly say that friendship is well traveled. It is also beautifully photographed, making the choice of the winners a particularly difficult task. Our three honourable mentions and four prize winners produced unique and strong images that captured our imaginations. Congratulations to Judith Lermer Crawley, David Hopkins and Jacques Robert who are deserved recipients of our Honourable Mentions; Italo Camerino and David Jourdan who tied for Third Prize with very different and equally compelling images; Second Prize winner Linxi Jiang for a straightforward photo of friends on a porch; and Grand Prize winner Joel Labbee who turned the background of La Fete Nationale into an irresistible, multi-layered photograph that captures both the casual nature and special camaraderie that is friendship.
